Bicycle Libraries give students opportunities to use a bike for fitness, recreation, and transportation to get to and from school safely every day.
Transportation can often be just another hurdle for students to get to school and succeed. Bicycle libraries seek to reduce this hurdle by giving students a bike to use throughout the school year. Students learn valuable mechanical skills by working with library leaders to perform routine maintenance and adjustments to bikes in need of repair. At the end of the year, students who have responsibly maintained their bike get to keep it forever and experience the benefits of cycling on a permanent basis.
